Lots of signage and student support made for a big day! |
The purpose was to sell goodies and raise some money to help the Communications Program's Bulldog News Now (BNN) buy some needed equipment.
And what a picture perfect day we had too!
Bring on the customers! |
We set up our table in a strategic location across from the school cafeteria. There from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. was a good span of time as students would be coming and going for lunch in the cafe.
Faculty and some students brought cupcakes, brownies, drinks, and other treats.
Several communications students ran the sale. Pictured, from left, are Imara Hutson, Monique Daniel, Communications Club leader Ashley Hendricks, and Zion Riley.
Allen Fleming (left) and Ty Cravens |
Allen Fleming, seen here on the left, was a big help to me in getting things set up that morning.
We had a nice chat too from Ty Cravens (right), a 2017 graduate and Bulldog football player, who was visiting campus.
The students were really good at inviting passersby to check out the goodies and buy a treat or two. Several students gave a dollar or two to help our cause, without wanting a cupcake or other sweet.
The BNN Bake Sale Benefit surpassed expectations! The final count was $160! I told people that raising $100 would be a home run and $50 a good effort too.
Lots of cash- very sweet! |
We are already talking about making this an annual event. I've already checked the calendar. Valentine's Day 2020 falls on a Friday.
Communications Club President Ashley Hendricks designed this very attractive flyer that was used to promote our Valentine's Day Bake Sale.
Students in my public relations class also created promotional flyers (as an assignment). We talked too about what was involved in organizing and carrying out an event like this.
Teonna Breland designed the flyer on the left and Dyna'sha Stevenson the one on the right.
Xavier Thompson made a good flyer too.
Thank you to all the communications' faculty and students who contributed and helped make this first-time event a huge success. And thanks to all the SC State students who supported this event.
The day before Comm Club students and I created lots of signs |
